| Mike Skibbe's Wausau, WI Yard Module Rebuild
 Text and Photos, Mike Skibbe

This one is a rebuild log, as these three modules were originally part of the BraNch-Trak layout that a few members of Northwest N-trak built in the late 90's. I rescued it when we found the need to have a place to set-up trains without blocking the mainline. These modules were single track, so we just attach them to the wye module off of New Lisbon. Here's what they looked like when pulled out of storage:

First, new legs were built as the old ones were re-used elsewhere, and we needed them to be higher than original anyway. Then, I rebuilt the s-curve in the mainline near the engine facilities to make it broader. Bill Denton helped out and removed the caboose and RIP tracks at the west end and extended the yard tracks for more storage. That covered us for the first set-up.

Since then, I have been rebuilding the Micro Engineering turnouts and installing Tortoises underneath. I am basing the layout and structures on the Milwaukee Road in Wausau, WI. Marshall is currently working on a scratchbuilt engine house, and I am working on the famous Wausau depot. There is also a warehouse going in which doubles as the control panel for the turnouts on it's back side.

Wausau progress as of Harper 2006, notice the now minimized road underpass, and the warehouse which hides the control panel for the turnouts

The new arrangement for the engine facilities, Harper 2006. Milwaukee road had a turntable, but no "roundhouse". The engine house was all angular.
