Bill Denton's New Lisbon, WI Module Build Text and Photos, Bill Denton
New Lisbon, Wisconsin in the 1960's was an exciting place for a young boy who liked trains. At least it was for me as I think it's where my fascination with railroads began. My grandparents had a summer home near New Lisbon and we often rode the Hiawatha to and from Chicago. It's a pretty small town but every afternoon it would come alive with the coming and going of four passenger trains. Throw in the mainline freights, action in the yard and branch line traffic plus the wye and engine house, all great stuff for including in a model railroad.
My initial plan was to model the station area of New Lisbon as an N-Trak module. I quickly decided to also model the engine house and wye to make things more interesting and this expanded the module count to three. Track work was finished in short order and some scenery work began when the idea for MiNi Mod-U-Trak struck. The module height was raised to 53 inches and Mike Skibbe built his transition module for the east side of New Lisbon. I then decided to rebuild the west end and add another module to complete the yard. Eventually I hope to add yet another six foot module to the yard in order to get longer yard tracks and be able to store longer trains. When complete there will be 30 mainline feet of New Lisbon plus 4 feet of the Valley Line on the wye module!

Train #202/203 waits patiently for the arrival of both eastbound and westbound Hiawatha's, after which it will make its return trip to Wausau.

The engine house at New Lisbon resides within the wye east of town. It is being totally scratch-built from sheet styrene and Grandt Line windows and doors. I was lucky enough to find photos of all 4 sides of the building.

This is the area west of New Lisbon station. I hope to cover this with scenery by TrainFest '07.
